Zanet Ramos Benavidez

Zanet Elnora Ramos-Benavidez passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 13, 2026. She was 52 years old. Zanet was born on October 5, 1973, in Colorado Springs, CO, and was the oldest daughter of Dwight P. Ramos and Pamelia E. Ramos (nee Bailey). 

She dedicated 32 years to Santa Fe Public Schools, teaching many young people at Ortiz Middle School, Devargas Jr. High, Capital High, and The Master’s Program for a year before retiring. Teaching was her passion for years, and she touched many lives through her work. She was a light in so many lives, and many of her former students and colleagues often referred to her as an angel and beacon of laughter.

Zanet is preceded in death by her mother, Pamelia E. Ramos, and is survived by her beloved husband, Brian C. Benavidez, and daughter, Eliana E. Benavidez. She also leaves behind her loving father Dwight, sister Karrye and her husband Joseph, niece Stephanie and nephews Gabriel and Michael.

She will forever be missed, not only by her family and friends, but by students and colleagues who witnessed her true spirit. May her spirit live on in all the lives she brought light into. And may her life have been a testimony to the love of Jesus.

 Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26 at Santa Fe Baptist Church at 11:00 am with a reception to follow immediately, with a private family burial.
