Tommie O. Bustamante, 83 a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away on February 9, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving children.  She was born on June 1, 1940 in San Jose, New Mexico to Petrita (Sanchez) Ortiz and Adolfo Ortiz. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roberto B. Bustamante, parents, Adolfo & Petrita Ortiz, in-laws; Secundino and Rebecca Bustamante, infant daughter; Shirley Yvonne Bustamante, brothers; Abedon Ortiz (Guadalupe) and Patricio, sisters; Eumelia Montano (Brigido), Dora Rivera (Basilio), great grandson; Evander Dean Aarons, son-in-law’s; Michael Ortiz, David Maez and numerous brothers and sister in laws and nephews.

Tommie is survived by her children; Loretta Maez, Lorella Norris (James) Robert Bustamante (Jackie) Veronica Bustamante, Patricia Lovato (Joseph), grandchildren; Gerald Robert Ortiz (Amber), Michael Ortiz (Sarah), Cassaundra Bustamante-Navarro (Ronnie), Ryan Bustamante (Ashlie), Hilario Maez, Sherriann Maez, Isaiah Bustamante (Karly), Rebecca Quintana, Stephanie Aarons (Ian), great grandchildren; Gerald Anthony Ortiz III, Enriquez Ortiz,  Ezekiel Maez, Penelope Ortiz, Marialys Navarro, Julian Ortiz, Soraya Maez, Audrina Bustamante, Rowan Bustamante, Axton Bustamante, Noa Bustamante, Athena Aarons; great great grandchildren; Addilyn and Robert Ortiz.  Sisters; Elisia Bustamante, Ida Guppy; Brothers; Rudy Ortiz (Betty), Manuel Ortiz (Betty). Sister-in-Law, Lucille Quintana.  She is also survived by numerous godchildren and many friends.

Tommie was a homemaker.  Among the many joys in her life she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.  She was always asked by her family to bring her Natillas, Sopa, Biscochitos and Pastellitos to family celebrations among other favorite dishes.  Tommie enjoyed various sports, going to the casino, dancing (especially the jitterbug), listening to Spanish music, attending concerts, watching game shows and Spanish novellas. Tommie took great pride in her appearance by always wearing her “bling” and having her hair done weekly.

A rosary will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 7:30 PM at St. Anne Catholic Parish, 511 Alicia Street, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501.  A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 9:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Parish, 511 Alicia Street, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501.  Interment will take place at 10:30 AM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Pallbearers are:  Gerald Robert Ortiz, Michael Ortiz, Ryan Bustamante, Hilario Maez, Isaiah Bustamante and Cassaundra Bustamante-Navarro.

Honorary Pallbearers will be:  Rebecca Quintana and Stephanie Aarons.

The family would like to thank the staff at Enchanted Sky Hospice - Taylor Bustamante, Leann, Desiree, and Taylor (CNA) for their excellent care and also the medical/nursing staff from Christus St. Vincent Hospital who was entrusted with our mother’s care.

The family would also like to thank the many family, friends and neighbors for all of their continued support and prayers.  A special thank you goes out to Father Larry Brito who came to the family home to administer the last rites to our mother, prayers and for the beautiful mass celebration that will comfort our family tremendously.
