Tomasita "Tommie" Leyba, passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Fe, NM, on June 1, 2026. Born on April 15, 1943, in Las Vegas, NM, Tommie lived a life illuminated by love, faith, and joy.

From her earliest days, Tommie was a beacon of light for all who knew her. She loved her family fiercely and cherished her spiritual bond with Jehovah, a devotion that underscored every step she took. She was baptized as a Jehovahs Witness in 1968 and her true joy was studying the Bible with others and sharing the good news of God's kingdom with anyone she met. Her presence was a dance of happiness and grace—whether she was dancing to music or simply moving through a room, her enthusiasm for life was palpable. Her laughter was a melody that lifted the spirits of those around her, a testament to her genuine desire to bring joy to others.

Tommie’s life was enriched by the true love and companionship of her late husband, Mike Leyba, whose memory remains deeply held in the hearts of her family. Their love was one for the ages.

In the gentle twilight of her life, Tommie remained true to herself: joyful, kind, and unyieldingly devoted to those she loved and the God she revered. Her home, a sanctuary where she passed away peacefully, was filled with the echoes of her dancing feet, singing, and smiling eyes. While the world has lost a truly special woman, the essence of Tommie endures—in the hearts of her family, in the joyful memories shared among friends, and in the quiet, comforting faith she so profoundly embodied.

She is survived lovingly by her sons, Michael Leyba (wife Stacey Leyba) and Gabriel Leyba (wife Maria Leyba). Grandchildren, Lawrence Montoya (Andrea Padilla), Savanna Leyba (Tony Ruiz),  Adrian Molina (Chantel Kenton), Isaac Molina (Shannon Bazan), Maya Leyba (Dennis Escovedo), Brandon Leyba. Great Grand Children, Luzziano Leyba-Ruiz, Sophia Montoya, Azekiel, Issac, and Vincent Molina. Siblings Donaldo Urioste (Laura Urioste), Marcella Urioste, Angela Urioste (Marvin Barela). In-laws, Jerry Leyba, Vita Hentzen, Marcella Vandersommen, MaryJo Gonzales, Luisa Rodriguez (Mike Rodriguez), Ray Leyba (Vicky Leyba). Great Aunts Naomi Corpio (Bill Corpio) and Phoebe Archuleta. Spiritual daughters Diann Garcia, Mary Leyba, Clorinda Montoya, Cindy Vigil. She also has many cousins, nieces, nephews, and spiritual brothers and sisters who she loved very much.

She is also preceded in death by her parents Marcelino and Rose Urioste and Brother Dean Urioste. Nephews Antonio Urioste and Mario Urioste.

Tommie was loved and cherished and we look forward to the day we can dance together again!
