Todd Alan Burkett passed on Saturday March 7, 2026 at the age of 58. Todd was born to Nancy and Gene Burkett in Anderson, Indiana and was raised in Dayton, Ohio. After high school Todd pursued his passion in law enforcement becoming first a patroller and eventually a highlighted detective in Butler Township, Ohio.

Todd always loved being outdoors and he fiercely loved his family. Growing up, he would go fishing with his grandfather when visiting in Michigan, and go backpacking with his father and other grandfather out West. As an adult he was an avid hunter and fisherman that took to any environment he was in. Whether it was ice fishing in the Finger Lakes of upstate New York, teaching his children to hunt for deer or elk in the mountains of New Mexico, being in the wild was always his happy place. Moving to New Mexico to become a ranger at a local camp really was his dream and he cherished every moment he shared with his wife, Terri and children, Maxon and Miana in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Todd is preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Loudenslager and Eugene Burkett. Todd is survived by his wife of 23 years, Terri; children, Maxon, Miana, Moriah (Kyle) and grandson, Ace Chapman, Micah Wiesner (Gabrielle) and Matt Wiesner; sister, Cheryl Bigony (Darrin); nephew, Ethan Bigony; brother, Kevin Burkett (Amy), niece, Madison and nephew, Hudson.

Services are being held in Cimarron Canyon, Palisades area on March 14, 2026 and are being held in New York at Cummings Nature Center in Naples, NY on May 13, 2026. Additionally, a family gathering is being held on June 4, 2026 in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio.
