Thomas Charles
Totaro
1948 – April 14, 2026
Thomas Charles Totaro, born in 1948, in Hoboken, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, in Taos, New Mexico. He was a devoted family man, a skilled paralegal, and a beloved figure whose presence touched many lives.
Thomas’s professional life was dedicated to his role as a paralegal for Fortune 500 companies, where his commitment and diligence earned him respect and admiration. In 1998, he and his family moved to Taos, New Mexico, a place that became his cherished home later in life.
A true homebody at heart, Thomas found joy and fulfillment in the warmth of familial bonds and the comforts of home. He married his beloved spouse, Susan, and together they celebrated 36 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring partnership and devotion. As a father, Thomas was strict yet always present for his children—Aimee, Corey, Thomas, and Vittoria—guiding and supporting them with steadfast love. He found immense pride in his family, extending to his grandchildren Simon, Sawyer, Virgil, Joanie, Jaylyn, Rocco, and Vincenzo, as well as his great-grandchildren Amrey and Amaris. His siblings, Jackie and Maria, along with his entire family, will profoundly feel his absence.
Thomas was known not only for his dedication but also for his memorable Sunday dinners, where his talents as an extraordinary cook shone, especially through his beloved Italian cuisine. Cooking was not just a hobby but a way for him to nurture those around him. Gardening was another passion, where he took pleasure in growing vegetables, connecting with the earth and seasons. His connection to nature extended to his love of camping in Big Sur, California, and skiing, activities that brought him joy and adventure.
A true sports enthusiast, Thomas was a dedicated New York Yankees fan, often seen eagerly watching games and even embracing photography to capture moments, especially cherished by those who saw him at games with his son. His fondness for dogs was well known; dogs seemed to naturally gravitate toward him, a testament to his gentle spirit and kindness.
Thomas’s reading habit reflected his contemplative nature, providing him with continual learning and reflection. Those who knew him recall the blend of discipline and availability that defined him as a father and a man of character.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Victoria, and his sibling Carmelyn. Despite these losses, Thomas’s legacy lives on through the memories and love he leaves behind.
Thomas Charles Totaro’s life was marked by dedication, love, and quiet strength. His influence will remain with his family and all who knew him, remembered for his steadfast presence and the many ways he enriched the lives around him. He will be deeply missed and forever honored.
The family of Thomas Charles Totaro has granted Rivera Family Funeral Home the honor of serving them.
