Teresa Chavez, a cherished soul who graced the world with her gentle spirit, departed this life on June 9, 2025, leaving behind an imprint of love and kindness in the hearts of those she touched. Born on July 19, 1992, in the lively town of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Teresa embodied a quiet strength and a profound tenderness that resonated deeply with her family and friends.
For many years, Teresa dedicated herself as a housekeeper at Lifts West, where her unwavering commitment to her work mirrored the devotion she offered to her loved ones. Known for her shyness and a warm, nurturing nature, she was endearing to everyone who crossed her path. With her honest demeanor and her quiet laugh, she created connections that transcended words.
Teresa's love for her family was boundless, and there was a special bond she shared with her brother, Juanito. Their relationship blossomed with shared moments, laughter, and endless support that painted their lives with colors of camaraderie and unconditional love. She shared a profound bond with her uncle and nino, Billy Hurst, exemplifying a relationship built on unconditional love and deep connection. Her parents, Juan Chavez Sr. and Carmen Hurst Chavez, alongside her brother Juan and his wife Judy, and uncle Billy cherish the memories of Teresa and the indelible mark she left on their hearts.
A fervent reader, Teresa's imagination thrived within the pages of thrillers and mysteries, with her all-time favorite being the enchanting world of Harry Potter. She delighted in cooking and baking, often experimenting with new recipes, infusing her creativity into every dish she prepared. These moments, simple yet profound, became her way of expressing love and warmth.
Her kind, loving heart and shy disposition made her a beloved figure among her numerous family members, including her cherished niece Emilina and three adventurous nephews, Emiliano, Cruzito, and Carlitos. Each child, in their own unique way, carried a piece of Teresa's spirit, embodying the love she showered upon them.
In remembrance of Teresa's life, a viewing will take place on June 18, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 5:00 PM, both held at Rivera Family Funerals & Cremations of Taos. The culmination of her farewell journey will be a Mass at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Questa on June 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM, where her family and friends will gather to celebrate the radiant essence of her life.
Teresa’s departure leaves a void that echoes in the hearts of her parents, brother, niece, nephews, and uncles, but her memory will forever live on—through the stories shared, the recipes tried, and the love that continues to blossom from the seeds of affection she sowed. As she embarks on her next adventure, may she find peace and eternal joy, watching over her loved ones with a tender heart that remains ever-present.
