Theodore (Ted) Lewis Valdoz (79), Pecos, NM Our beloved husband and father was called by our Dear Lord to his eternal rest. Ted passed away peacefully at his home in the early hours of January 22, 2026.

Ted was born in Embudo, New Mexico on April 12, 1946, to Cruzita Romero. He was raised in Santa Maria, California, and later returned to New Mexico in the early 1980s. Ted worked at the Santa Fe Downs and at various car dealerships before working at the Pecos Inn. It was there that he met the love of his life, Charlotte (Martinez). They were married on January 25, 1992, and together shared four children: Lewis, Mary, and twin sons Adam and Andrew.

Ted is preceded in death by his mother, Cruzita Romero, and his brothers Simon Romero, Frank Rendon, and Andrew Peneranda.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Charlotte Valdoz; his sons Lewis, Andrew, and Adam; his daughter Mary and son-in-law Nathan Sedillo.

Ted proudly served the State of New Mexico and the County of Santa Fe for 25 years before retiring. He was a kind and loving husband and father who cherished time with his family. He especially loved traveling in his RV, capturing memories through photos, and cheering on his beloved Washington Redskins. 

Services will be held on Friday, February 6, with a viewing and rosary at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Abbey (Pecos Monastery), 16 Guadalupe Ln, Pecos. 

Burial will follow at the Pecos Benedictine Monastery Cemetery. Ted will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
