The Family of Sylvia Darlene Gallegos is deeply saddened to announce her passing on September 30th 2026, following a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer. Darlene passes away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and loved ones, as she made it home to be with her Heavenly Father.

Darlene was born on June 7th 1960 in Covington, Kentucky. At just 2 years old, she moved with her family to Santa Fe, NM where she grew up before eventually moving to Las Vegas, NM. She graduated highschool and went on to raise her 2 beautiful children, Jennifer and Joshua, in Las Vegas.

In 1987, Darlene began her career in Nursing, a calling that would become one of the greatest reflections of who she was. She dedicated more than 30 years of her life to caring for others, offering comfort, compassion, and kindness to those that needed it most.

Anyone who knew Darlene would tell you that she was truly an angel walking this earth. She had a heart unlike any other and a spirit that touched the lives of so many. She never turned away from someone in need and was always there to lend a helping hand, especially to those less fortunate. Her gentle and caring spirit, her generosity towards others, and her willingness to give herself will never be forgotten.

Darlene was a devoted Catholic and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Her Faith was not simply something she believed in; it was something she lived everyday. She dedicated her life to serving others, honoring the words of Mark 10:45

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve."

These words were a true reflection of Darlene's life. Whether she was caring for her patients through her nursing career, serving her community, or loving and supporting her family, she consistently put others before herself. Even as she faced her own illness, her heart remained focused on those she loved. Her faith, strength, and compassion carried her through life's moments and left a lasting example for everyone blessed enough to know her.

Darlene's legacy is one of unconditional love, selflessness, faith, and kindness. The lives she touched, the comfort she gave, and the love she shared will continue to live on through her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Though her passing left an immeasurable ache in the hearts of those who love her, her memory will forever be a source of comfort, strength, and inspiration.

Darlene was preceded in Death by her Father Fred Smith and her beloved Son Joshua Clayton.

She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband Frank Gallegos; her daughter Jennifer Clayton ( Nichole) ; her granddaughter Brooklyn (Dakota); her cherished great grandchildren Jameson, Marlowe, Goldie, and Darling; Her mother Ruth Smith, her Brothers Dale Smith and Paul Smith ( CiCi), Sisters Beverly Smith and Janet Ashton ( Ron), and Countless other nieces, nephews, and family and countless others whose lives were made better by her love and kindness.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Darlene is no longer suffering and has been welcomed home into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. We take peace in believing that she has been reunited with those who went before her and that her beautiful spirit will continue to watch over the family she loved so dearly.

Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, but the world will forever be a little less bright without her.

Rest Peacefully Mom. Your love, your faith, your kindness, and your beautiful heart will never be forgotten. You spent your life taking care of everyone else, and now you can rest. Until we meet again, you will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.
