In Loving Memory of Susie Saiz
Susie Saiz was born on December 23, 1942, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Pablita Hurtado and George Hurtado, with whom she shared a very close and loving relationship.
Susie met her husband, Joe M. Saiz, and together they started to build a beautiful family. They were blessed with three sons, Baby Saiz, Joe “Manny” Saiz Jr., and Frank Saiz. Throughout her life, Susie’s family remained at the center of everything she did.
Susie was the kind of woman whose door was always open. Family and friends knew they could stop by and there would always be good food on the stove. She loved listening to Spanish music, spending time with family, and most of all, seeing everyone together and having a good time.
Family meant everything to Susie. She shared a special bond with her grandsons, Nathan and Shai, and always held her many nieces and nephews close to her heart. She was especially blessed to have her great-granddaughter, Esperanza Saiz, whom she adored tremendously. Susie would often talk about how beautiful Esperanza was and how proud she was to be her great-grandmother. Her nephew, Marcos Hurtado, and all of her other nieces and nephews, whom she loved so much, always held a special place in her heart.
Susie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe M. Saiz; her son, Baby Saiz; her parents, Pablita and George Hurtado; her sisters, Margaret “Margie” Quintana and Maria Valdez; her brother-in-law, Esquipula Valdez; her brother, Ray Hurtado; and her nephew, Marcos Hurtado.
She is survived by her sons, Joe Manuel Saiz Jr. and his friend, Charlene, and Frank Saiz and his wife, Rose; her grandsons, Nathan Saiz and his wife, Gina, and Shai Salazar. Nathan and Gina’s family includes daughters Esperanza, Aaliyah, and Aliyana, and grandson Reyes.
Susie is also survived by her sisters, Irma Gonzalez and her husband, Renee, and Bernadette Ortiz; her brother-in-law, Dennis Quintana husband to Margie Quintana; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Susie will always be remembered for her open door, good food, Spanish music, and the tremendous love she had for her family. The memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
