Susan (Pho-Sa-we) Romero, born in December1955, was a member of the Santa Clara Pueblo and passed away on February 11, 2026. Her departure leaves an emptiness in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A talented artist, Susan created delicate and intricate pottery pieces in the style of her late father, Joseph Lonewolf. Susan's work resonated with beauty and grace, reflecting her creative spirit that she shared with the world.
Susan was known for her absolute affection for animals. She provided a caring home for numerous stray animals, many of whom spent their pampered lives with her. She possessed a unique sense of humor which brought joy and warmth to the many friends who remember her with fond memories.
Susan held a particularly special place in her heart for her great niece, Mia, and great nephew, Teo. Additionally, she cherished the children of friends as if they were her own. She found immense joy in making Christmas an extraordinary time for everyone, crafting memories that they will hold close to their hearts forever.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mike; her brother, Gregory (Wendy), and her sister, Rosemary, along with nephew Adam and his wife, Liz. Together, we will carry forward the legacy of love and creativity that Susan embodied throughout her life.
In our mourning, we remember Susan Romero for her exceptional spirit, artistic talents, and the countless beautiful moments she created with her family and friends. Susan leaves behind not only her artwork but also the imprint of her love within the hearts of all who knew her.
The family respects and honors Susan's wishes that no commemorative ceremony be held. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her memory please consider a donation to the Espanola Animal Shelter.
