Silviano Archuleta, our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully at the VA Hospice facility surrounded by his loving children on April 1, 2026. He was born December 8, 1945 to Celestino and Maria Inez Archuleta in El Rito, NM. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Yolanda, his parents, Celestino and Maria Archuleta, father and mother-in-law Rafael and Ursula Trujillo, brothers Leroy, Andy and Celestino Jr Archuleta, sisters Creselda Madrid and Julia Herrera, granddaughter Milliani Cantrell and great granddaughter Alexis Vargas. He is survived by his son Wesley Archuleta and wife Maria, daughter Roberta Cantrell and partner William Curtis, step daughter Danielle Trujillo, grandchildren Ingrid, Daniel, Kayla and Michael Archuleta, Amethyst Navarro-Espinoza and husband Juan Carlos, Jason, Carolyn and Rafael Cantrell, Sierra, Jeremiah, Stevee and Royce, great grandchildren Santiago and Carlos Navarro-Espinoza and Nyx Kaxxandra Garcia, sister Floraida Sisneros, brothers-in-law Arnold, Mark, Mario and Fabian Trujillo, sisters-in-law Cassandra Velasquez and Victoria Ramsey and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Silviano was drafted into the Army in 1967 where he served our country and fought in Vietnam. He was awarded a Purple Heart after being wounded in battle and was honorably discharged in 1969. He went on to become a miner for the uranium mines in Grants, NM, followed by working as a prison guard for NM State Penitentiary in Santa Fe, NM, was a police officer for the Town of Taos, and finally was the bailiff for the Taos District Court. Silviano loved being a police officer for the Town of Taos and worked his way up the ranks and went on to retire as a Lieutenant in 1997. As a police officer, he was known for being tough but fair and was respected by all that knew him.

Silviano known as Silver by his friends and Grandpa Cookie by his great grandchildren was outgoing man who never met a stranger. He would strike up a conversation with anyone, and would proudly tell them all about his life, his wife, his children and his grandchildren. He was a man who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He loved his grandchildren and made sure that they wanted for nothing. He spent his down time caring for his lawn, fighting with the prairie dogs on his property, visiting his grandson Rafael at his job, and making sure his granddoggers Gizmo, Lilith, Bambi and Zoey were adequately supplied with hot dogs. Silviano traveled the world with his wife Yolanda by his side and visited their son Wesley (retired US Air Force) as often as they could, wherever he was stationed. He had a special relationship with his daughter Roberta whom he saw daily and on Sunday they had a tradition of sharing a meal and watching episodes of Star Trek that began after the death of his beloved wife Yolanda in 2021. Silviano was loved and will be missed by all those that knew him.
