February 15, 1944 – June 21, 2025

Sharon Karlene Lavy, a beloved mother, grandmother, and award-winning quilter, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 81.

Born on February 15, 1944, Sharon lived a life full of love, creativity, and devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lavy, in 2020, and now joins him in eternal rest.

Sharon is survived by her four children: Kelly Lavy of Los Alamos, Lawrence Lavy (Tammie) of Los Lunas, Jason Lavy (Sara) of Albuquerque, and Matthew Lavy (April) of Española. She was a proud and deeply devoted grandmother to Robert, Loni, Madelyn, Kristin, Blake, Bryce, Alannah, and Lawson—each of whom brought immense joy and meaning to her life.

A talented and passionate quilter, Sharon won Grand Champion honors in the state of New Mexico for her exceptional craftsmanship. Sewing and quilting were not just hobbies for her, but a lifelong expression of love and artistry. Her quilts were treasured gifts, stitched with care and filled with stories.

Her family finds comfort in the words of “Footprints in the Sand”:

“My precious child, I love you and will never leave you… When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

Sharon’s warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
