Roy was a loving and patient man with a heart of gold. Born and raised in Ventura, California, born to his parents David (deceased) and Vera Rangel, he was one of six children. He joins his sister Mary in passing and David Jr., Lydia, Rita and Adrian will miss him sincerely.
He married the love of his life, Debbie Pierce, on October 4, 1975, and together they have two loving daughters, Davina and Mindy. Davina married Ian Maes and had three sons, Gavin, Logan and Mason Maes. He loved his family deeply.
Roy was rich in faith for his God Jehovah and kept the promise of a beautiful future close to his heart with scripture. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s witnesses on July 7, 1971, and this faith kept him strong until the end.
However strong, he was very much a teddy bear at heart. Roy had a smile that lit a room, and people felt welcomed and loved by his light. His laugh was so big and contagious that no matter how one felt, they would also succumb to laughter. He loved to dance and was a delightful singer, but silliness and laughter were his true gifts.
An outdoorsman, he took enjoyment and pride in fishing with his son-in-law and his grandsons- moments they will cherish and hold in their hearts forever. He will be quietly missed by all of the animal creatures he adored, both in the wild and at home. He loved sports, and always rooted for Los Angeles- Rams, Dodgers, and Lakers. Watching games with his daughter Mindy are moments they both cherished deeply. Deeply loved and missed- Roy’s family is counting down the days until they see him again!
