Rosina E. Turner

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Rosina E. Turner. She was born on Easter Sunday on April 10, 1944, to Pete and Dora Chavez. She passed in the early dawn hours of August 4, 2026. She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Turner. Her sons Richard and David Chavez. Her grandson Nickolas Armijo, and granddaughter Erin Jade Torraco and her husband Chris Chavez. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Edward, Andy, and Robert Chavez. Her loving sisters Terry Cervantes and Frances “Pancha” Armijo. Her son in law Aaron Torraco, and a host of many more who await her in God’s Heavenly Kingdom.

She is survived by her children Mary Jane Chavez and partner Pat Martinez; Ana and husband Henry Romero; Debbie and husband Richard Martinez; Dennis and Angela Chavez; and her daughter Paula Chavez and partner Neil Sandoval. Her loving sisters Rose Pacheco, Deborah and husband Ruben Ortiz; Mary Jo and husband Robert Sanchez “deceased”, Patricia and husband Steve Trujillo; Her brothers Henry, Gilbert, and JohnPaul Chavez. She leaves behind her grandchildren Timothy Martinez, Stephanie Fierro, Adreanna Chavez Jimenez, Shawnae Strother, Amelia and Joseph Chavez, Deanira Torraco, Amanda and husband Tyson Gonzales. Donnie Lovato, Estrella, Dylan, and Elijah Chavez. Her very special niece and amazing caregiver Andrea Trujillo. She also leaves behind all her great grandchildren, great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved and adored as they loved and adored her.

Rosina had such a strong work ethic, retiring at the age of 80 from Christus St. Vincent Hospital. Another family who loved and respected her. She was generous to a fault and on return received a wealth of love that no monetary value can be placed on that.

She was an amazing cook and baker. Anyone who was lucky to get her empanaditas or biscochitos will attest to that. More than anything Rosina loved being around her family. She and her sister Terry loved shopping and cooking for all the birthday parties, and believe me, there were many! They always offered to cook for someone’s funeral even though they weren’t family, but they saw a need and didn’t hesitate to offer to help, along with their sisters. One making beans, one making posole, one making rice, another making enchiladas. Sometimes I think people went to the funerals just to eat their food. The rest of us that are left will certainly honor their memories by always helping where help is needed.

My momma and I had quite some adventurous times. We went to Puerto Vallarta twice; we went to Mazatlán and to Puerto Penasco. We went to Ensenada and Rosarito Beach. We had a great time in San Antonio, San Diego, and San Francisco. We went to the Grand Canyon, Laughlin, and Las Vegas. These memories will forever be in my heart.

Services are still being confirmed and will be announced at a later date. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Timothy Martinez and Elijah Chavez, and her very special nephews whom she considered grandsons Stevie and Nicholas Trujillo.
