Biography

Rose M. Richardson, 82, born & raised in Santa Fe, NM; resident of Pecos, NM, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 11, 2024.  “Marie” was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, & friend who lost her long & courageous battle to cancer.  Our mother was a kind-hearted, loving, dedicated, & strong person.  Her passions included: cooking, baking, embroidering, gathering with her children for special events, as well as attending local, social events & most importantly spending quality time with her entire family. She also loved attending her grandchildren’s school & sports activities.  Throughout her life, she had many State government jobs & after 25 years of service, retired from the New Mexico Department of Transportation (Highway Department) in 1998.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Manuel & Barbarita Varela, parents, Ben & Delfina Garcia, son, Steven A. Gabaldon, sister, Barbara C. Trujillo & brother, Benny R. Garcia.

She is survived by her children, Patrick Gabaldon (Liz), Elizabeth Gabaldon-Ortiz (Dale), & Jennifer Richardson-Romero (Ross); grandchildren: Armando, Adrianne, Adam, Felicia, Ariana, Daniel, Dale Jr., Elvis, Ronald & Romeo; great-grandchildren: Armandre, Arlanni, Liliana, Celine, Violet, Caius, Ginger, Marcus, Mariah, Melissa & her beloved brothers: Art & Fred (Virginia) Garcia, sisters: Josephine (John) Taylor, June (Gus) Roybal & Evangeline (Anthony) Bransford and many nephews, nieces, & extensive family members including special nieces, Lisa Ortiz & Melissa Tanuz; cousins, Mary Helen Biles, Rosalie Betts & Linda Archuleta; as well as special friends, including: Vangie Medina, Robert Benta, Virgina “Jean” Ortiz, & Adelina Prada. 

Serving as Pallbearers will be Patrick, Daniel & Adam Gabaldon, Ross, Elvis & Ronald Romero. Serving as “honorary” pallbearers is Romeo Romero & Marcus Ortiz. 

A rosary & funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, beginning at 9am, at St. Anne Parish with internment to follow at Rivera Family Funerals & Cremations Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
