In Loving Memory of Roseanne Lopez 

February 9, 1960 - September 12, 2026 

Roseanne Lopez, 66, passed away on September 12, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with her family at her side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. 

Throughout her life, Roseanne faced multiple battles with cancer, and each time she met them with a strength and courage that was truly remarkable. No matter how difficult the road became, she continued to fight with determination, grace, and a will that amazed those around her. She endured more than most could ever imagine, yet she continued to find reasons to smile, love, laugh, and be there for the people who meant the most to her. Her family witnessed a strength in her like no other. Roseanne was truly a warrior, and the courage she showed throughout every battle will forever be one of the many things her family admires and remembers about her. 

Roseanne was originally from Pecos, New Mexico, a place that always remained close to her heart. Although she later made Grants, New Mexico, her home and built a beautiful life there with her family, Pecos was always "home" to her. Any chance she had to return, she took it, visiting the place and people who held so many memories for her. 

Roseanne will be remembered as a gentle and ladylike woman in every aspect of her life. She treasured time spent shopping at Bealls and enjoyed country western and Northern New Mexico music. She loved to dance every chance she was given and found great comfort in her faith. 

Her faith in God was a foundation of her life. She was a strong believer and did her best to instill that same faith in her children and family. When she was unable to attend church, she found comfort in listening to the Divine Mercy Chaplet being sung. Roseanne believed in turning to God during both the joyful and difficult seasons of life. As her family now faces the tremendous loss of her passing, they know she would want them to lean on the faith she worked so hard to give them - to trust in God, find strength in one another, and allow their faith to carry them through the days ahead. 

Above all else, Roseanne's life was centered around her family. 

She shared her life with her loving husband, Jerry Lopez. On October 25, 2026, Roseanne and Jerry would have celebrated 46 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with family, memories, celebrations, and a love that endured through the years. Their nearly 46 years together created the foundation for the family Roseanne treasured so deeply. 

Roseanne was also one of her family's greatest supporters. She was always there for her daughters, encouraging them and supporting them in whatever they chose to do. That same devotion carried over to her grandchildren. Grandma could be counted on to be in the stands and on the sidelines for their football, basketball, baseball, and soccer games. She rarely missed an opportunity to watch them play, cheer them on, and let them know just how proud she was. Showing up for the people she loved was simply part of who Roseanne was. 

She loved having family and friends gather together, whether it was for a celebration, at the Pino Real Ranch, or at the Roderos. She loved telling jokes to her grandchildren, especially if she knew she could make them blush. Some of the family's fondest memories are of playing card games together and always catching Grandma cheating with her cards. 

Roseanne also had a way of making home feel especially close and comforting. She always welcomed a loving massage or a gentle back scratch from those she held dear. These simple and tender moments - the laughter, the teasing, the card games, the gatherings, and simply being together - became the memories her family will now carry with them forever. 

Roseanne also gave generously of herself to her community. She proudly served the Village of Milan as a Trustee and took that responsibility very seriously, always wanting to help the community in meaningful and lasting ways. She was especially proud to see improvements made to Milan's parks, the completion of the first phase of Airport Road, the rehabilitation of the Fire Station, and the purchase of equipment and vehicles. She also advocated for improvements to wells, water lines, sewer lines, and other infrastructure that could support additional housing and economic growth. These accomplishments stand as visible reminders of her care and dedication to the community she served. 

Roseanne is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Lopez; her daughters, Jenine Ortiz (Josh Ortiz) and Monica Lopez (Jhonathan Perez); and her beloved grandchildren, Julian Lopez (Anastacia Valenzuela), Angelo Ortiz, Annalycia Lopez, and Josiah Ortiz. Her family circle was further blessed by her great-grandchild, Demetrius Horcasitas-Ortiz, and by the joyful anticipation of another great-grandchild on the way. 

She is also survived by her siblings, Lourdes Lujan (Gene Lujan), Carlotta Rivera (Chris Rivera), and Ray Vigil (Teresita), as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by each of them, and her love will remain a steady presence in their lives. 

Roseanne was preceded in death by her father, Ramon Isidoro Vigil; her mother, Imelda Varela Vigil; her mother-in-law, Rose Lopez; her father-in-law, Apolonio Lopez; her brother, Mark Vigil; her sister-in-law, Jacqueline Lopez; her brother-in-law, Paul Lopez; her nephews, Patricio Vigil and Diego Gonzales; and her dear family friends, Theresa Varela and Lala Ortega. 

Services in Milan will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026, at St. Vivian Catholic Church, 501 Sand St., Milan, New Mexico 87021. The viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by the Rosary from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services in Pecos will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 11 St. Anthony's Loop, Pecos, New Mexico 87552. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by the Rosary from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. 

Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Cemetery, 50 Panther Pkwy., Pecos, New Mexico 87552. Julian Lopez, Angelo Ortiz, Josiah Ortiz, Bradley Lopez, Jonathan Martinez, Mark Vigil, Gene Lujan, and Chris Rivera will serve as pallbearers. Ray Ortega, Felix Gonzales, Marvella Gonzales, Annalycia Lopez, Demetrius Horcasitas-Ortiz, Evelyn Siegmann, Jordan Baca, Miranda Roy, and Gina Murrietta will serve as honorary pall bearers.

It was Roseanne's wish that when her earthly journey came to an end, she would return home to Pecos one final time and be laid to rest among the loved ones who had gone before her. Her family finds comfort in knowing that her final journey will bring her back home. 

Roseanne's family and friends will remember her with deep love, gratitude, and admiration - for her grace, her devotion, her humor, her unwavering faith, her incredible strength and courage, and the steadfast way she cared for her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her extended family, and her community. 

And although the days ahead will be difficult, the faith Roseanne carried throughout her life is part of the legacy she leaves behind. She would want her family to hold tightly to God, to one another, and to the love she gave them, trusting that faith will carry them through until they are together again. 

Her memory will be cherished always, and the love she gave so freely will live on through every life she touched.
