Rosalie Gonzales

December 27, 1941 — August 18, 2025

It is with profound sorrow and deep reverence that we announce the passing of Rosalie Gonzales, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on August 18, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A native of Arroyo Seco, New Mexico, Rosalie graced this world with her kind spirit on December 27, 1941.

Rosalie was a remarkable individual whose deeply-rooted values and unwavering kindness shaped the lives of those around her. Together with her beloved husband, Simon Gonzales, she co-owned Gonzales Sand & Gravel for 24 years, demonstrating not only her prowess in business but also her commitment to serving her community. Rosalie was well known for her generous heart; she responded to people in their times of need with an open hand and an open heart, frequently offering her time, food, and services without a hint of expectation in return. Her legacy is one woven into the lives of many who experienced her kindness firsthand.

An embodiment of grace, Rosalie held dear the manners and decorum of a bygone era, paired with a proper demeanor that showcased her elegance. She took great pride in her appearance and had a warm smile that brightened every room she entered. Her interests were varied and rich; she found joy in traveling with her brother-in-law Tele and sister-in-law Carmen, venturing both across borders and cherished landscapes. She was a passionate baker, well-known for her famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and traditional Biscochitos, which she lovingly prepared to gift to friends and family. Among her many pleasures, walks with loved ones and cultivating vibrant flowers brought her immense joy, as did the romance novels that whisked her away to far-off lands.

Rosalie's nurturing spirit lives on through her family, including her devoted daughter Yvette (Scott), sons Eric (Melissa) and Joseph (Sharon), and an adoring array of grandchildren: Andrew Gonzales (Demetra), Melanie Gonzales, Raul Gonzales, Katrina Gonzales, Aaron Swallows, Allyson Swallows, Dasan Gonzales, Myles Gonzales, and Nicole Garcia (Pat). She also cherished her great-grandchildren, Che Romo, Sol Chalker, Zakai Chalker, and Mateo Garcia. Rosalie's legacy is further enriched by her cherished siblings, Lilian Garcia (Cipriano), Frances Archuleta (Felix), Jean Trujillo (Tito+), Vickie Rael (Floyd), Virginia Abeyta (Elmer), and Roberta Martinez, who along with numerous friends are left to remember her grace and warmth.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Gonzales, her son, Gilbert Gonzales, her parents Onofre and Maria Inez Baros and many relatives and friends

As we bid farewell to such an exceptional soul, may we take solace in the many memories of love and joy that Rosalie brought into our lives. Her spirit will forever remain within us, shining through in acts of generosity, kindness, and an everlasting sense of community.
