Romulo O. Martinez, of Questa, passed away peacefully on August 13th, 2025.
Born to Otoniel and Esther Martinez in Questa, Romulo was a hardworking man who retired from Molycorp Inc. and also owned his own business J & R Cleaning. Known as “German” to many, he was admired for his strong work ethic and dedication.
He will be remembered for his humor, storytelling, and the joy he brought to others - whether through teaching his children and grandchildren life lessons, or his love of God, farming and wrestling.
He is survived by his children Diana Duran, Michael Martinez, Manny Martinez (Wendy), Marbella Leon, and Yolanda Archuleta; his sister Carmen Cordova (Lee); nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Martinez; parents, Otoniel and Esther; in-laws Maxwell and Katie G. Martinez; grandson, Joseph Martinez; siblings Priscilla Veo (George) and Joe Martinez (Eutimia); daughter-in-law Cece Martinez; sons-in-law David Leon, Joseph Duran and Kenneth Archuleta, In-laws Sophia and Cornelio Cisneros, brother-in-law Antonio Martinez(Priscilla), 3 nephews Keith Veo, Arnie Cisneros, and Maxwell Martinez.
A rosary will be held Sunday, August 24, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in Questa. A funeral Mass will be Monday, August 25, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony de Padua, with burial to follow at San Pedro Cemetery.
