Roland K Alarid

1970 — 2025

Roland K. Alarid, a beloved and caring father, brother, and son, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Albuquerque, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on July 11, 1970, Roland's life was marked by deep affection for his loved ones and a passion for cooking that brought joy to many.

Roland's laughter often filled the room, especially during family gatherings where he treated everyone to his famous natillas—a delicious dessert that became a staple at celebrations. He had an undeniable gift for making everyone feel at home, blending flavors and melodies alike, and his love for country and Spanish music added a special rhythm to every occasion.

A proud veteran, Roland served his country valiantly during the Iraq War, where he earned numerous awards and ribbons, including the Bronze Star. His commitment to service reflected his character—selfless, brave, and devoted to those around him. He carried the pride of his military service with honor, always ready to share stories of camaraderie and resilience.

Roland leaves behind a cherished family, including his beloved daughters, Ariel and Darlene Alarid. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Tony and Consuelo Alarid, who instilled in him the values of love and hard work. His siblings—Tina Montoya, Suzanne Ortiz, Jacqueline Brown, and Lisa McElroy—along with their spouses, Vince Montoya, Joseph Ortiz, and Chris McElroy, remain united in their grief, holding onto the precious memories they created together.

His legacy continues in the hearts of his nieces and nephew, Taylor Montoya, Reina Alarid, Gianna Brown, and Vinson Montoya, who will surely carry forward the warmth and creativity he brought into their lives.

Roland is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Angelina McGrath, whose nurturing spirit shaped the family he treasured so deeply. As they bid farewell, family and friends reflect on a life well-lived, filled with laughter, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family.

In remembering Roland, let us celebrate not just his accomplishments and passions, but the profound love he scattered generously among all who knew him. Though he has departed from our sight, his spirit and memory will forever linger in our hearts.
