Robert Sidney Wilson, age 79, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away on December 10, 2025.
Born on August 19, 1946, in Kendall, Florida, Robert was the son of John Joseph Wilson and Evelyn Alice Albritton. He lived a full and meaningful life rooted in love, service, curiosity, and quiet strength.
Robert was a proud United States Army veteran. He volunteered to serve in Vietnam twice, demonstrating courage, loyalty, and a deep sense of duty. Instead, he was assigned to posts in Germany and later Taiwan, where he served with honor as part of the Taiwan Defense Command. His service shaped the discipline, steadiness, and depth of perspective that followed him throughout his life.
Exceptionally intelligent and endlessly curious, Robert was an avid reader who dedicated countless hours to the study of military affairs, global politics, and the economy. He followed world events and financial markets with a sharp mind and a lifelong desire to understand the forces shaping the world. His insight, thoughtful discussions, and encyclopedic knowledge will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved partner, Lillian R. Turner; his son Joseph S. Wilson and Joseph’s partner Donna Niederhelman; his granddaughter Elizabeth A. Wilson; and his great-grandchildren Ryland M. Harvey and Emerson M. Harvey. He also leaves behind his cherished cat, Minnie, who remained faithfully by his side and brought him comfort and companionship.
Robert will be remembered for his warmth, steady presence, keen intellect, and satirical humor. His family and friends will hold his memory close, honoring the love, resilience, and wisdom he shared so generously.
He will receive military burial honors at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with dignity and respect. Service details will be announced once arrangements are finalized.
