Rita C. Walker on March 2, 1928, in St. Paul, Minnesota, passed peacefully on December 14, 2025, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, surrounded by her loving family. Rita lived a life filled with love, resilience, and dedication to her family and community.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Rita is survived by her cherished children: Lawrence J. Walker Jr. and his spouse Terri Walker; Mary Jo Walker; John F. Walker; and Timothy M. Walker. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Daniel M. Walker, Amy Elizabeth Walker, and Josh Ballinger Walker, along with his wife Karlita, and great-grandson Jerry Emmons III.
Rita shared a special bond with her sister, Martha Rustad, and brother-in-law David Rustad. She fondly remembered her many nieces, nephews, and friends who brought joy and companionship throughout her life. Rita's loving spirit and unwavering strength touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and the countless memories she created with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence J. Walker Sr., who was her partner in life and love. Rita's passing marks the end of an era, but her remarkable legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her. Her family takes solace in the profound impact she made and the memories they will cherish for generations to come.
