Raymond Salazar passed peacefully on August 28, 2026, with his family surrounding him. He was born on March 11, 1949 in San Ignacio, NM and will be remembered with deep love by all who knew him.

At the center of Raymond’s life was his family, whose love and presence remained a lasting source of strength and joy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Margaret. He also leaves behind his children, Ray Salazar and Bernadette, and Jessica Stansen and Nils. Raymond’s family continued to grow through the generations, and he is lovingly remembered by his  grandchildren, Samantha, Taylor, Santiago, Isaac (Kalina), Simone(Luis), and Joaquin, as well as his great-grandchildren, Olivia, Mateo, Angelo, Jaxon and Baby Boy to be.

He is also survived by his brother, Abel Jr, and Lupe; his sisters, Carol and Louie, Carmen and Johnny, and Rosalie. Brothers' in law; George and Joanne, John and Helen.  Sister in law, Pauline, Rose.   Raymond’s love extended beyond his immediate family, and he held a special place in the lives of his godchildren, Charlie Ortega, Steven Anaya, and Dominic Drake. He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, primos and friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by his son, Chris Salazar; his brother, Ignacio "Nacho" Salazar; his parents, Abel and Carmen Salazar; and his in-laws, John B and Juanita Anaya. Their memories remained part of the family story that Raymond carried throughout his life.

Raymond will be remembered for his love of cooking and baking, especially his homemade tortillas and natillas. He enjoyed his time socializing with people while helping his son, Ray, with Capital High Athletics.  Most of all, he enjoyed going to watch all of his grandchildren's games and performances and snuggling with the great-grandbabies.
