Raymond Christopher Ortega, affectionately known as "Red," was born on July 14, 1987, in Espanola, New Mexico. He departed from this world unexpectedly but peacefully on December 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and humor that will be cherished by family and friends alike.

Raymond was a person of strength and kindness, known for his caring nature and a heart that always prioritized his family. His humor was infectious; he possessed a knack for making jokes that brightened the days of those around him. He was always ready to lend a hand to family or anyone in need, a testament to his unwavering spirit and generous soul. Many will remember his contagious smile, which could light up any room.

A devoted family man, Raymond’s sons, Jeremiah Ortiz and Anthony Ortega, stood as his proudest accomplishments. He took immense joy in the relationships he cultivated with them and relished being a father. He often expressed his love before parting ways, reminding his family with heartfelt words: “I love you, and God Bless you. Amor!”

Raymond enjoyed a variety of hobbies that showcased his love for the outdoors and creativity. He found solace in nature through fishing, hiking, and biking. An avid sportsman, he loved to work out and play basketball and also possessed a keen interest in mechanic work on vehicles. He was a gifted artist, creating intricate carvings out of wood and glass, each piece reflecting his artistic talent which he deeply valued.

His faith in God was a guiding force in his life, and he prayed often, drawing strength and purpose from his beliefs. Raymond took pride in his appearance, always donning clean, crisp clothing and maintaining a fresh haircut with his signature Locs Sunglasses.

He leaves behind a loving family that includes the mother of his child Christina Ortiz, his siblings Victoria Ortega (Edgar Mendez), Rachael Ortega (Israel Enriquez), and Denise Ortega (Jamie Zapata), as well as a wide circle of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews, including Brenda and Artemio Mendez, Peggy Atencio and Francisco Tapia, Joe and Annette Ortega, Vangie Suazo, Bonnie Trujillo, Jasmin, Beto, and Yesenia Medina, Jorge Alvarez, Ximena Dominguez, Jessica, Jose-Luis, Alejandro, and Damian Enriquez, Adan Ortega, Emiliano, Nathan, and Daleyza Zapata, Esperanza Chavez, and his great niece Leslie Dominguez. His beloved dog, Guera, was a constant companion, sharing in his joy for life. Raymond is also survived by many other cousins, relatives, and cherished friends

Raymond is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Ortega Sr., his mother, Darleen Atencio, his brother, Timothy Sisneros, and several cherished relatives including his Padrino Ernie Lopez, Madrina Cindy Martinez, Uncle Joe Ortega who raised him like a Grandfather, Paternal Grandparents Pauline and Liborio Lopez, Maternal Grandparents Ruby and Benny Atencio, Great-Grandparents Beronice and Eliseo Ortega, Great-Grandparents Margarita and Jose Baca, and Uncles Andy and Dickey Ortega, and aunt Elaine Lopez.

In Honor of Raymond, a Visitation will be held on January 16th, 2026, beginning at 12:00 PM, at Rivera Family Funerals & Cremations of Espanola, located at 305 Calle Salazar, Espanola, NM 87532. Burial will take place immediately following his Visitation Service at Templo Bautista Cemetery in Chimayo NM.

His sudden departure has left a void in the lives of many, but the love and memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him. Raymond "Red" Ortega was a shining light in the lives of many, and he will be lovingly remembered for his laughter, kindness, and dedication to family.
