Pia M.
Padilla
November 13, 1941 – March 29, 2026
Priscilla Maria Padilla, affectionately known as “Pia,” passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, in Española, New Mexico, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on November 13, 1941, in Tesuque Village, New Mexico, Priscilla lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering spirit of generosity.
Pia was a woman of remarkable resolve and ambition. In the 1970s, she made the independent decision to attend night school to further her education, embodying her lifelong commitment to growth and learning. Following this, she enrolled at the University of New Mexico. She also spent time in San Bernadino California, where she attended beauty school and earned her certification in cosmetology.
Throughout her life, Pia was known not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her generous heart and willingness to serve others. She volunteered extensively within her community, most notably dedicating time to the Española Humane Society by working at the Paws Animal Thrift Store. Her compassion extended beyond people to include her many beloved fur babies over the years, who brought joy and comfort into her life.
Pia’s personality was vibrant and authentic. She was very friendly, open-minded, and deeply respectful of diverse cultures, religions, traditions, and ways of life. An avid world traveler, she had a profound appreciation for Mexican culture and cherished the experiences she gained visiting Morocco, Spain, Mexico, and many additional places. Her artistic talents were evident in many aspects of her life — from her exceptional skills as a seamstress who created clothing and curtains, to her green thumb that nurtured a flower garden she loved dearly. She was also a dedicated reader with a sharp mind that constantly sought knowledge and understanding.
Among her proudest achievements was building a beautiful family and nurturing a relationship filled with love and friendship. Her daughter, Trish Padilla, was not only her child but also her best friend — sharing road trips, Fourth of July celebrations, and memorable concerts. These memories stand as a testament to the special bond they shared.
Pia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Alex J. Padilla, her brother, Gustavo Facundo Jimenez (Cundy), and her parents Pedro and Florinda Jimenez. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Trish Padilla, her cousin Jose A. (Baldy) Martinez (Mary Jane), who was like a brother to her; her sister, Anna Maria Trujillo (Leonard); her sister-in-law, Martha Padilla (Bill); and her beloved Shih Tzu 'grand dog', Valentino, whom she adored deeply.
