Philip Alfred Padilla (Montoya)

d. March 24, 2015

Philip Alfred Padilla (Montoya), age 60, a resident of Farmington, NM passed away on March 24, 2015. Our brother Philip was a foster child, raised by our parents, Rose and Amadeo R. Montoya, from the age of 5 days old. He went to school at St. Catherines School in Santa Fe. He then moved to Kansas, where he attended college majoring in education. He also lived in Idaho, Las Vegas, Nevada, until he moved to Farmington, NM back in 2003, to help us care for our mother Rose. Philip was a great cook, his meals were tempting and youd gain weight just sampling them. He had a keen memory and could recall the smallest details when wed ask him if he remembered such and such a person, or locations. He read his Bible daily and could recite passages and get you into a lengthy conversation with it. Lately Philip had been having health issues; his knees were swelling up and he had been told he might need a knee replacement, and was suffering with a fractured ankle which was causing him walking pain. Philip will be missed by his family and those who knew him, He is survived by his brother Bennie Montoya (wife Susie) from Farmington, NM, brothers, Dale Montoya, from Velarde, NM, Joseph F. Montoya (wife Patricia) from Farmington, sister Marlene (spouse Ray) Jaramillo, L.A. Calif., many nieces and nephews and lots of cousins. Philip still has cousins living in Santa Clara Pueblo. Biological siblings, Raymond, Charlotte and Virginia Padilla. A rosary was recited on March 31, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Catholic Church in, Velarde, NM. A memorial Mass took place on April 1, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde, NM with Fr. Simeon officiating. The family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt appreciation your kind expression of sympathy during this difficult time.
