Patricio Chavez, born in 1946, in Espanola, New Mexico, passed away on September 29, 2026.

Patricio will be remembered as a good person whose quiet nature was balanced by the close friendships he kept throughout his life. He was set in his ways, clean and organized, and carried the influence of his military service with him. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed crochet, and was especially fond of spending time at the casino. Above all, he loved his grandchildren and shared a good relationship with those closest to him.

He served in the United States Army and was honored with the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. His service remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.

Patricio’s family was a central part of his life. He is survived by his children, Patrick Chavez, Steven Chavez and his wife Erica, and Theresa and her husband Tomas. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Kenneth, Marissa and her husband Sam, Jeremiah, Dillon, Amanda, Mario, Ramon Ojeda, and Yasmin Chavez, as well as his great-granddaughter, Marie. He is also survived by his brothers, George and his wife Sandy, and David and his wife Dolores. Also cherishing his memory are the mothers of his children, Karen Martinez and Connie Talamantes, and his close friends Rogelio, Luis, and Nuna Margaret.

A Rosary will be held on October 8, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 205 Don Fernando St, Taos, New Mexico 87571.
