Patricia Anne Chavez, born in Silver City, New Mexico in 1949, passed unexpectedly on Friday, September 11, 2015. She is preceded in death by Elias R. Chavez and is survived by her 91 year old mother, Dolores Chavez: her sister and brother-in-law, Liz and Walter Herrera; and her brother E. Robert Chavez. She also leaves behind her nephew and his wife, Louis and Lesley Moya; nephew, Ryan Chavez and niece, Regina Chavez and their children. Others who will miss her laughter and smiles are aunts and uncles: Pablo and Adelaide Chavez, Ernesto Chavez, Alicia Carreon, Tarcila Peña, Isabel Yunker, Alejandro and Joyce Peña, Manuel and Sue Peña, and many cousins. A long time resident of Aurora, CO, she also leaves many beloved neighbors, friends and colleagues who were just like family to her.
Patricia graduated Cum Laude from Regis University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She was a long time employee of Kaiser Permanente, serving most recently as a manager in their language resource center. Patricia was also a sign language interpreter who spent happy hours with members of the deaf community at church services and church activities. She was most proud of having interpreted for events on the Occasion of Pope John Paul IIs World Youth Day 93 in Denver, CO.
Everyone who knew Pat spoke of her giving spirit and warm smiles and laughter.
Rosary will be recited on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 6 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 2 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
