Patricia Patsy Gonzales Morrow

Patricia “Patsy” Gonzales Morrow, born February 14, 1953, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, after courageously battling a lengthy illness for three years. Surrounded by her beloved family, she remained strong-willed and determined until her final breath.

Patsy’s life will be remembered lovingly by all who shared in it. To be surrounded by family in her final moments speaks to the closeness, care, and devotion that marked her life and the bonds she held dear. She will be mourned, remembered, and cherished with gratitude for the time shared with her.

Patricia grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and remained proud of her roots throughout her life. She also served her country as an Intelligence Clerk in the Army National Guard, with service in Germany and Alaska during the Cold War. Her military service reflected the strength and sense of purpose that remained with her throughout her life.

Patricia trained as a paralegal by attorney's Steve Herrera, Carlos Vigil, and Richard Rosenstock when they represented families in northern Rio Arriba County during the land grant disputes in the 1970's. She then found her calling in civil rights work, serving with the New Mexico Human Rights Division and later as a Federal Civil Rights Investigator with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). She spent her career helping people who were being treated unfairly, standing beside those facing discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in the workplace. Helping others seek justice wasn't just her job, it was part of who she was. This work reflected her compassion, her strong sense of right and wrong, and her willingness to speak up for those who needed a voice.

Patricia will be remembered as a free spirit and a deeply compassionate soul. She was fun-loving, joyful, outspoken, and strong-willed, never afraid to speak her mind or stand up for what she believed in. She loved being surrounded by people and brought energy, laughter, and authenticity wherever she went. Patricia leaves behind a lasting memory of kindness, strength, and a spirited heart that touched countless lives.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Morrow; her daughters, Maya Martinez and Aurora Martinez, and her grandchildren, Lauren, Aubrey, and Solomon "Sal", and her goddaughter Norma Ortega. She is also survived by her brothers Rick (and wife Hela), Nick (and wife Helen) and Danny (and husband Lawrence); her sisters Marsha, Nellie (and husband Ronell), Anna (and wife Ruth), Peggy (and husband Steve), Nick Jr., sister-in-law Maggie, brother-in-law David, and friend, Mark Hussey and Sean Noonen. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Margaret Gonzales, and by her siblings Veronica, Josie, Ramona, Carlotta "Lottie," Rudy, and her younger sister, Loretta, who passed away on August 19, 2026, just days before Patricia.

Viewing will be held on September 3, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rivera Family Funeral & Cremations of Santa Fe, 417 East Rodeo Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87505. A Rosary will be held on September 10, 2026, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at San Jose Church Parish, 128 Camino San Jose, Santa Fe, NM 87507. Mass will be celebrated on September 11, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Saint Anne's Parish, 511 Alicia Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505. Burial will follow on September 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at San Jose Church Parish, 128 Camino San Jose, Santa Fe, NM 87507, and Reception will immediately follow after burial at St. Anne's Parish Hall, 511 Alicia Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Presbyterian Hospital for the compassionate care, kindness, and dignity they provided Patricia during her final days. Their support brought comfort not only to Patricia, but also to the family who remained by her side throughout her journey.

Patricia lived life on her own terms, with courage, conviction, and an open heart. She spoke her mind, stood up for others, and brought laughter, energy, and authenticity wherever she went. Her strength, compassion, and vibrant spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
