IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nora Anita
Roybal
0930 – December 29, 2025
Nora Anita Roybal, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, went with the Lord on December 29, 2025, in her home in Rio Lucio, New Mexico. Born on August 1, 1930, she dedicated her life to her family and community, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and strength.
Throughout her life, Nora took great pride in her roles as a homemaker, crafter, and gardener. Her insistence on perfection and pride in all work profoundly influenced her children and grandchildren, instilling the importance of commitment and striving to excel in everything they attempted. She was a nurturing and affectionate presence in the lives of her grandchildren, always ready to share her love through her baked goodies or her craft creations, especially during holiday gatherings or personal achievements.
Nora had a passion for hobbies that included quilting, crocheting, needle work, and sewing, where she created beautiful hand made works that she displayed proudly and often gave away as gifts. A talented seamstress, she once taught sewing classes at the Penasco community center, mentoring and encouraging others to embrace and enjoy their creative talents. She enjoyed her time outside by working on her flower beds and early on, her vegetable and fruit garden, from which she would create delicious pies and jams.
A devout Catholic, she found solace in her spiritual practices, especially praying the rosary. She would pray for family and friends that were ill or having a rough time with life. She would also light candles when someone was travelling long distances and pray for their safe arrival. Her strong faith was her moral compass and support throughout her life.
Nora is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Benito Roybal; her mother and father, Eduvigen Medina and Delfino Medina; her daughter and son-in-law; Neomi and Marvin Lopez; and her grandson, Enrico Roybal.
She is survived by her children: Delfino (Gladys) Roybal of Albuquerque, Carl Roybal of Albuquerque, Brenda (Carl) Lopez of Las Trampas, and Spring Roybal and her partner Frank Martinez of Rio Lucio. She also leaves behind eight adoring grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, who she loved and enjoyed immensely.
She lived a long and full life and her passing is deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
