It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Molly. She died on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at age 94. She was born in Tajique, New Mexico on September 23, 1931 to Jose I and Brigida Otero. She later moved to Santa Fe where she lived, raised her daughter Janet and worked. She was working at Santa Fe theatre when Judge “Cuate” Chavez met her and offered her a job as a court clerk. She excelled and worked her way up to secretary. When Tom Fiorina took over as Judge he promoted her to Court Administrator. Molly was known for helping others. Regardless of if you were family, friend or stranger, Molly was there to help. Her motto was “we should always help people.” She became the person people turned to who could influence decisions related to their situation. She was a member of the Auxiliary for the VFW Post 2951 and supporter of the American Legion. She was often seen as political gatherings supporting candidates. Molly enjoyed going on cruises and playing the slots at the casino.
Molly is preceded in death by Joe Larry Mares, her parents Jose Ignacio and Brigida Otero. Her brothers Fidel, Clifford, and sisters Peggy Turrietta, and Frances Gallegos. Her longtime friend Robert Ortiz.
Molly is survived by her daughter Janel Rael (Cristobal), grandsons Gabriel (Heather), Philip (Victoria), great-grandchildren Alexis Rael (German Gutierrez), Damian Rale (Maren Mallory), Annika Rael, and Maya Rael, and her siblings Jerry Otero (Mary), Louise Montoya, Jenny Salazar (Joe), Gloria Kennedy, Steve Otero, and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends their thanks to her home caregivers Samantha and Maria, the staff from Anvoi especially to Tammie, Elizabeth and Faby. We would also like to thank the staff from Morningstar. Special thanks to the staff at Rivera Family Funerals for their care and help with our loved one.
Molly was love by many and will be missed and remembered.
