Miquela Velarde

Miquela Velarde, born in 2000 in Taos, NM, joined our heavenly father August 28, 2016 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She had attended Taos High School and was starting her sophomore year at Vista Ridge High School in Colorado. She was devoted to her family, church, music and the outdoors. She understood God’s love for her and followed his example as she opened her heart to many. Miquela is survived by her loving parents; Stella and Jesse Mutu, her grandparents; Jack and Gwen Carpenter, Michelle and Moises Maestas, Geri Vigil Mutu, and Michael Velarde Sr., her biological father ,Michael Velarde Jr. and her many aunts, uncles, and cousins, Modesta Carpenter, Stanley Cuffee, and cousin, Kagome Carpenter. Miquela is survived by uncle, Mark Velarde and family, aunt Julie Velarde and family, Ernistine Velarde, Leandra and Kandise Montoya, and Ron Montoya; as well as a lifetime of friends and family.
