Miguel Antonio "Mike" Gonzales, Sr., age 88, passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2025, in Santa Fe, New Mexico surrounded by his family. Born on July 13, 1937, in Cañones, New Mexico, he lived a full and vibrant life rooted in family, hard work, and simple joys.
Mike was the beloved husband of Marcellina Gonzales of 61 years and the proud father of Michelle Gonzales, Connie Gonzales (Ruben), Moises Gonzales, Edi Gonzales, Ramona Gurule (Gilbert), Virginia Sandoval, and Diana Blanchard (Tommy), daughter-in-law Carolyn Gonzales, 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Siblings Richard CdeBaca (Jeanie), Arthur CdeBaca (Dolores), Maria A. Goosey, and Rita Trammel (Don)
He was preceded in death by his son Michael Gonzales Jr., and daughter MaryJane Gurule (Daniel Gurule), grandsons Gilbert Gurule Jr., great grandson Larry Gurule, Father Lorenzo Gonzales and Irene Gonzales and his biological mother, Edith Maestas CdeBaca.
Mike served honorably in the United States Navy before embarking on a diverse career that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication. Over the years, he worked for the City of Santa Fe, College of Santa Fe, Greer Enterprises, acted in a few movies, was an auto mechanic teacher, a truck driver, a handy man, and was employed at both the Eldorado Hotel and Hotel Santa Fe.
Known for his sense of humor and loving nature, Mike brought warmth to every room he entered. He found joy in life's simple pleasures—like eating chocolate, chopping wood with care and sitting under the apple tree counting airplanes overhead, those were among his favorite pastimes.
May Miguel Antonio "Mike" Gonzales Sr.’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire generations to come.
