In Loving Memory of Mike

We’re heartbroken to share that Michael Conway passed away at just 46 years old.

Mike was born in Cameron, Missouri in 1979, moved to El Paso with his family at the age of 3 and graduated from Coronado in 1998. He moved to Angel Fire, NM in 2016 and accepted the position of property manager at the Angel Fire Ski Resort. He fell in love with the beauty of the community and people and never left.

Mike was the kind of person who did things his own way and lived life fully. He loved snowboarding, hiking, biking, watching the wildlife and felt most at home in the mountains, where he could clear his head and just be free.

Mike had a talent for building and fixing things, and there wasn’t much he couldn’t figure out. He took pride in what he made, and that pride showed in everything—from treehouses and go‑karts for his nieces and nephew, to the time he spent teaching them how to ride bikes, skateboards and rollerblades.

He was an incredibly talented craftsman—someone who could build just about anything. If something was broken or needed to be made, Mike could figure it out.

Mike also had a huge heart when it came to his dogs. They weren’t just pets to him—they were his family. Starting with the great Tiva to Kuma, Jambo, Sugar, and Chuey. He put so much time and care into training them. He had a real gift with animals, and they adored him right back.

Over the past year, Mike had started finding his way back to God and family. He was going to church again and spending time studying the Bible, taking steps to grow and find peace in his life. He and his sister were connecting through daily phone calls and FaceTime catching each other up on all the things happening in their lives. That meant a lot to him, and it meant a lot to those who loved him.

Mike will be remembered for his strong will, his talent for building and creating things, his love for his dogs, and the way he lived life on his own terms. We’ll miss him more than words can say.

He is survived by his mother Sandra Conway, sister Amanda Flores (husband Gilbert), nephew Gilbert Bauman Flores, niece Hailey Cummings (husband Kyle), niece Brooke Flores, great nephew-KJ (son of Hailey and Kyle), aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends

Mike was predeceased by his father Douglas Conway.
