Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of MaryAnn Griego, a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister who was called home to our Lord on September 2nd 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1939 to Carmel and Juanita (Rivera) Romero in Nambé, New Mexico, MaryAnn maintained a lifelong connection to her hometown, where she resided throughout her life. She cherished moments spent with her family, showed unwavering compassion for rescue animals, and took immense pride in a fulfilling 50-plus-year career as a hairstylist that touched countless lives.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eligio; her siblings Lorraine (Ben), Bennie (Willie), Tillie (Johnny), Mino, Carmen, and Eloy; her granddaughter, Melissa A. Griego; her parents-in-law, Domingo and Pita Griego; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law Severiano, Eulalio (Dora), Frank Griego, Fedelina Jimenez (Angelo), Toni Martinez, and Lucy Griego.

She is survived by her son, Carl (Donna); her daughters, Cynthia (Nanci) and Carolyn (Barb); her grandson, Carl Jr.; her great-grandchildren Angelo Jr., Alyssa (Brandon), Carl III, and Angelina; her great-great-grandchildren Janayah, Violet, Brandon Jr., and Cameron; her siblings David (Lugi), Sofia (Harry), Sammy (Crestina), and Vangie; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law Frutoso (Carmen), Agnes (Mino), Cora, Lillian, Bernice, and Dan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family extends its sincere gratitude to Compassus, especially her nurses Reanna, Win, Dan, and Shelley, as well as Corey the Chaplain. Their exceptional compassion and care guided us through her convalescence.

In lieu of flowers, if you choose, please donate to your local animal shelter or plant a tree in her memory.

Services, including a Rosary and Christian Burial, will be announced at a later date. Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations has been entrusted with the arrangements (riverafamilyfuneralhome.com).
