Mary (Maria de los Angeles) Tapia (April 13, 1944) passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, surrounded by her children and sister.
Life and Career
Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Mary worked in many office related fields. She began her professional career working for the Bank of Las Vegas and eventually moving on to the State of New Mexico, Human Services Department where she worked for 13+ years. After a brief injury, she worked for several plumbing and construction jobs as well as Camel Rock Casino, doing various accounting related duties. After Rosendo's retirement they lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they enjoyed life and playing at the casino and bingo. She missed living in Vegas, but came home to New Mexico to spend time with her great-grandchildren whom she loved and enjoyed.

Grandchildren: Tanya Jeantete (Chris), whom she raised like a daughter, Amanda Mena (Andrew), Krystal Soliz (Mike), Maria Lugo-Mee (Tish), Carmela Lugo-Westerfeld (Trevor), Rosendo Lugo, Mariela Lugo, LJ Lugo (Louise), Christopher Yowell (Becca), Sherissa Silva (Lucas), Reece Scott, and Royrie Scott
Great-grandchildren: Christopher Jr., Adam, Isaac, Jacob, Reyes, Christopher II, Kaysen, Jaxon, Esequel and Lunaria.
Siblings: Gavina Valencia
In-laws: Isabel Lovato, Estella Lovato, Carla Tapia, Julia Ortiz (Benny), Daniel Tapia (Patsy)
Friends: Sadie and Toni Gonsalez Sanchez, Lena Sanchez, Virginia Padilla, and many special god-children, nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Reymundo and Vicenta Padilla, parents-in-law, Rosendo and Julia Tapia; her siblings (spouses); Clara Baca Trujillo (Felipe, Joe), Rose Saiz (Mike), Natividad Padilla (Sue), Valentina Montano (Robert), David Padilla (Grace), Jenny Bahrs (Ambrosio, Don), Reymundo Padilla Jr. (Theresa), Evangelina Martinez (Reymundo), Lillian Gutierrez (Medardo), Odilea Tapia (Leonard), Aurelia Padilla, Margaret Padilla and Raymond Padilla, in-laws; Robert Valencia, Ramon Tapia, Sam Tapia (Erlinda), Estella Tapia, Emilio Lovato and Ignacio Lovato; her sons-in-law Luis Lugo and Carl Houston.
Legacy
Mary will be remembered for her loving nature, warmth, generosity, her feisty sense of humor and the many years she shared with her loving husband, Rosendo. She leaves behind a legacy of love, support, and cherished memories that will never be forgotten.
