Our beautiful mother went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 21st, 2026.

Mary Jane was born on January 27th, 1935, to Henry and Maria Garcia Sr.

My Mom said she remembers her mother telling her she was born on a cold snowy day, on a blanket on the kitchen floor of her grandfather Martin Pacheco’s old adobe house was because they had just started building their home on Pacheco street.

She went to school at Alvord, Guadalupe Elementary and then St. Francis. She loved to sing in the choir at the St. Francis cathedral.

Her first real job was at 12 years old, later she also worked at the Lensic Theater, TGNY, JC Penney’s, Harry O’s and then worked as a landscaper in Santa Fe.

Next to gardening what she loved most of all was caring for her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She was a wonderful cook and even made the best bread. She also love to dance, sing and most of all worship the Lord.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Henry and Maria Garcia, brothers Henry Garcia Jr. and Arthur Garcia, sister-in-law Olivia Garcia, sister Jean Regensburg, grandson Isaiah Rael and granddaughter Stevie Rae Rael.

She is survived by her sisters Henrietta Clokey and Teresa Rekard of Santa Fe.

Survived by her daughter Carla Romero, sons James Rael, Vince Edward Romero and daughter-in-law Christine Romero

Grandchildren Danni Rael, Monique Romero, Tina Romero, Krystal Masouras, Nicole Cordero(David), Brooke Rael-Luna(Randy) and Sara O’Brien.

Great-grandchildren Cassandra, Jeremiah, Aubreyanna, Laura, Sarah, Damien, Thomas, Ryan, Harrison, Emma, Rosalie Jane, Stevie Rae Luna and Elizabeth.

Special nieces and nephew she helped raise Emilio Pacheco, Francis Anne Pacheco, Kisha Clokey and Kaylyn Clokey.

A special Thank You to her daughter-in-law Christine Romero. Thank you for all the wonderful outings that made her laugh, smile and praise God for the beauty of nature. She loved you very much, Chris.

She was a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, cousin and friend.

We will be having a celebration of life on August 14th, 2026, at Potters House 8551 Bluewater Rd NW, Albuquerque. Services will start at 11am with reception to follow at the same location. Please wear bright colors, no dark colors. She was a gardener and we want her to see a beautiful bouquet of color at her celebration.

With love from the Romero and Rael family!
