Mary Jane Barba

Mary Jane Winnegar Barba was born on June 22, 1955, at St. Joseph Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, her father, Andrew Winnegar, 1924-2024 and her mother, Susan McMahan Winnegar 1928-2026.

 Mary Jane was a very kind, generous, and humorous person. She was quick to smile, quick to laugh, and quick to forgive. She loved her family and loved animals. She was never afraid to be herself or do the hard things that needed to be done. 

She is survived by her husband Jacob Barba, daughter Sarah Barba (Tomas and daughter Holly Martinez), sons Jacob Jr. (Sarah Lynn) Barba and Isaac Barba (Alex, Ash Aranda) and grandson Otis Barba, sister Rebecca (Jeff Langford 1954-2021), brother Andy and Judy Winnegar and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in laws. She will be greatly missed by her loving friends: Gina Nieto, Debbie and Bob Moore, Antonia Salazar, Maria Quintana and many more. Proceeded in death by brother Randy 1951-1971. 

She worked for Santa Maria El Mirador for 25 yrs and was passionate about helping people with disabilities. She attended the University of North Texas. She died on August 25, 2026, at 71 after a courageous two-month battle with Endometrial cancer at the Christus St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Mary Jane had a great sense of humor loved by her family and her friends. She will be forever missed.
