Mary Ruth Duran, whose journey began in the quiet warmth of Pino Wells, New Mexico, on July 20, 1937, and concluded peacefully in Santa Fe on July 4, 2026, passed from this world enfolded in the arms of her loving family. As her days gently slipped away, she was surrounded by those whose lives she had touched—comforted by memories, ongoing laughter, and the enduring strength of love given and received. With angels from Heaven softly calling her name, Mary answered, ready to join her beloved husband Jose Francisco Duran and her cherished son Eddie, who went before her into eternity.
Mary’s life was a profound and tender testament to devotion, resilience, and quiet grace. She shaped her days with selfless care, nurturing those around her with wisdom gathered from years lived generously. Her journey was rooted in the stretches of New Mexico's landscapes—a place that echoed her strength and beauty, and where she set down flourishing roots for her children and grandchildren.
The legacy of Mary Ruth Duran lives vibrantly in her surviving family: her loving son Anthony Duran, her devoted son John Duran, and her cherished daughter-in-law Karen Duran. Her presence is also carried forward by numerous grandchildren, Camille Duran, Amy Pecherski (James), Jacqueline Crespin (Justin), Kenneth Duran (Mark) and 6 great-grandchildren—each a bearer of her lessons, stories, and unwavering love. Those left behind grieve her passing deeply, but are comforted by the indelible mark she leaves etched on their hearts.
Preceded in death by her husband Jose Francisco Duran and her son Eddie Duran, Mary’s heart — big enough to hold an entire family — never wavered in love even in loss. The reunions she long awaited are now restored in peace and joy.
Mary’s life cannot be measured merely in years, but in laughter shared around kitchen tables, in warm embraces that offered refuge, in the faithful presence of a mother’s counsel, and in the quiet, powerful example she set. Her gentle spirit, encouraging words, and ceaseless generosity remain part of the fabric of her family’s story. But one important thing we are all going to miss about Mary is her embracing hugs and the sparkle in her eyes.
As those who loved her say goodbye, they honor the echo of her voice, the touch of her hand, and the wisdom of her heart. The sorrow felt is deep, but it is also filled with gratitude for a life lived honestly and well—a life that will ripple outward, blessing generations still to come.
Mary Ruth Duran’s chapter closes with love, surrounded by her family’s devotion, and as she journeys onward, her legacy shines brightly in the lives she fostered, the love she gave, and the memories she leaves behind.
