Martin Aiden
Schaffer
1976 — Mar 6, 2026
Martin Aidan Connor Shaffer
Martin Aidan Connor Shaffer passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2026. He was born July 14, 1976 in Los Alamos, NM to Martina Shaffer and Arthur Thomas (Tom) Noble III. When he was 10, he moved to Boulder, CO with his mother. While attending school in Boulder, Aidan made numerous friends with whom he stayed acquainted throughout his life. While enduring his school years, he played on the town soccer team, learned to play the alto saxophone as well as playing video games and other activities with his friends.
After graduating high school from the Colorado Rocky Mountain School in Carbondale, Aidan attended the University of Colorado. In Carbondale, he gained an appreciation of eastern religions, such as Buddhism which he studied avidly. He also enjoyed being in the mountains and other outdoor activities.
During his time at CU Boulder, Aidan worked at the campus bookstore and made a number of other friends before striking off on his own and exploring life in his unique way. He eventually moved back to Taos sharing the Shaffer family home in upper Ranchitos with his mother after she retired. He got to know his father and other relatives at that time. He also traveled to many states such as Utah, New Jersey and California where he had friends. He was interested in electromagnetic propulsion systems, owing to his mother’s work at Los Alamos National Laboratory when he was quite young.
BJ, as Aidan was known to many, had an active sense of humor and grew up with a variety of pets. He had an inquiring mind and sought to find the answers to many of our unknowns. He will be missed.
A memorial will be held for Aidan on Saturday June 27 at Red Willow Park (formerly Kit Carson Memorial Park) at 1 pm.
