Maria Guadalupe "Lupe" Dolores Sandoval

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, our beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, sister and dear friend MARIA GUADALUPE “LUPE” SANDOVAL, age 80, lifelong resident of Santa Fe, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father. She was born January 26, 1946 to Herman and Eliza Benavidez. She was known as Lupe by her family and friends and Drama by her grandchildren. She worked many years as a correctional officer and at Smith's and Albertsons grocery stores. Lupe will be missed by all those that knew her for her smile, laughter, personality, sense of humor and willingness to be there for her extended family.

She is preceded in death by her longtime companion George Joseph Martinez; her brothers Herman Jr., Phil Sr., Alfred, Toby, Napoleon; and sisters Mela, Adelina and Carmelita.

Those left to mourn her passing include her sister Josephine (Jack) Fleming; children Flip Sandoval; Angela Townsend; Paul and Rita Sandoval; Theresa and Paul Gomez; Felicia and Mateo Ulibarri; grandchildren Nichole, Alexis, Vincent, Jacquelyn, Racquel and great grandchildren Logan, Silus and Arabella.

She is also survived by her special nieces Bernadette, Cathy Patricia, Rachel and Lorena and lifelong friends Eva and Sheila.

The Celebration of Life Service will begin with a Rosary at 10:00 AM followed by a Eulogy and Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 100 S. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM, with reception to follow. Committal and Interment will follow at St. Anthony of Padua, 11 St. Anthony’s Loop, Pecos, New Mexico at 3:00 PM. Family and friends are invited.

Serving as honorary bearers will be David Vigil, Steve Buckles, Anthony Benavidez, Johnny Ray Armijo, Aron Fleming, and Robert Vadurro.
