Maria found pleasure in simple things like singing and dancing to her favorite Spanish music, visiting with family and friends, watching her favorite sports teams, reading stories in the local newspaper, finding a deal at a garage sale, winning at the casino, watching news programs and debating political opinions, and completing a challenging puzzle. Cheering on her children and grandchildren at their various school, sports and arts activities brought her the greatest joy.
She will best be remembered for the love she showed through her cooking. The aromas coming from her kitchen were inviting to many and the conversations and laughter shared around her table will be fondly remembered. She was an amazing example of strength and perseverance to those who watched her overcome challenges she faced during her lifetime. She held tight to her faith and belief in the power of prayer.
