Maria Clorinda Elmore, a beacon of love and warmth in all who knew her, passed away on December 19, 2025, in the comfort of her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, surrounded by her cherished loved ones. Born on February 25, 1938, in Rinconada, New Mexico, Maria lived a life rich with memories, compassion, and generosity.
Maria's heart was always dedicated to her family as a devoted homemaker, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was known to bring laughter and light into her babies’ lives, nurturing them with all the love she could offer. Her spirit was also adventurous; she embraced opportunities to venture out, often managing a Speedway or two, showcasing her dynamic personality.
She met the love of her life Jim Elmore in Espanola, and they shortly made their journey to Los Alamos, NM, where she lived with her husband to start their family. He worked as an engineer, for about fifteen years before settling in Santa Fe to create the perfect nest. This move was more than a change of address; it signified a new chapter filled with experiences and connections that would last a lifetime.
Among the treasured memories are her first encounters with the vast ocean in California, a momentous occasion that delighted her as she happily fed the seagulls. Maria also relished her unforgettable ride in a tank and the profound joy of being called Grandma by fishermen and Marines alike—a testament to the deep impact she had on those around her.
A compassionate and giving soul, Maria dedicated her time volunteering with the Hospital Auxiliary. Her unwavering commitment to helping others defined her character, as she found immense fulfillment in contributing to her community. Whether it was volunteering or enjoying a day at the casino—where she often celebrated lucky streaks with five scratcher wins in a row from Smith's—Maria embraced life with an open heart and an unfailing zest.
She leaves behind a legacy enriched by kindness, humor, and an unbreakable bond with those she loved. Her touch leaves a profound mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Maria Clorinda Elmore will be deeply missed, remembered fondly, and forever cherished for the joy she brought into the world.
