Margaret Speed Woodall

Margaret Speed Woodall passed away on June 14, 2025 at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos after battling idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis for several years. Margaret was born in Louisville, Kentucky on December 4, 1947. She was the youngest child of Evarts and Jessie Speed and baby sister to Nicholas, John and Alexandra.

On September 20, 1969, Margaret married William M. Woodall III in Amagansett, NY and in the summer of 1971 they moved to Taos with their infant daughter Jessie (Andrew Hay). After settling in Taos, their family grew to include sons Buck (Cecilia), Benjamin (Lindsay) and Christopher (Anna). Margaret raised her family and helped found and manage the family business with her husband Bill and brother-in-laws David (Kathleen) and Pat (Carmen) for many years. Once her children were grown, she divided her time between her home in Taos and her home in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico where she pursued her passion for plein air impressionistic painting in oils and pastels and her love of living by the ocean. Margaret will be missed by many here and in Todos Santos and especially by her children and nine grandchildren.
