Manuel A. Medina passed away on October 7, 2026, in Taos, New Mexico. He was born in 1929, in Greeley, Colorado, and lived a long life marked by faith, devotion to family, service, and a joyful spirit that left a lasting impression on those around him.
Manuel was a very religious man whose faith shaped the way he lived and cared for others. He was especially devoted to La Santisima Trinidad Catholic Church, where he took great pride in his work and spearheaded efforts to help fix the old church. He also loved giving people tours there, sharing both his knowledge and his deep affection for a place that meant so much to him.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, serving from February 19, 1951, to February 10, 1953. His service was one part of a life defined by loyalty, commitment, and quiet strength.
Those who knew Manuel will remember a man who was happy, intelligent, and very knowledgeable, with a natural gift for making people laugh. He was a jokester at heart and brought warmth to those around him with his humor and easy way of connecting with people. He loved to read, loved country music, and loved singing. He was also a devoted Denver Broncos fan. Manuel found joy in working outdoors and took special pleasure in keeping his garden and landscaping beautiful. He loved animals and was known for being especially kind to them.
Above all, Manuel was a caring and loving father who took a real interest in his children’s lives. He wanted his children to have a good education, worked hard to be a good provider, and remained faithful and loyal to his family throughout his life. He hated bullies and valued decency, strength of character, and standing up for others. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he loved them dearly.
Manuel is survived by his wife, Genoveva, and by his children, Diana Gurule, Joanna Cristo and her husband Phil, Romaine Medina, and Anthony Medina, PhD. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Tony, Tabatha, Gabriel, Ashlee, Aspyn, and Dante, as well as his great-grandchild Julian. He is also survived by his sister, Isabel Jaramillo. Within his family, he shared a particularly close and affectionate bond with his daughter Joanna, who was dearly cherished by her father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lino and Pablita; his siblings, Eluterio Medina, Elisa Medina, Emily Romero, Alex Medina, Jessie Medina, and Lydia Rodriguez; and many relatives and friends who were important parts of his life.
A Rosary will be held on October 17, 2026, at 8:30AM, at Holy Trinity Parish with a mass to follow. Burial will take place after the mass at Arroyo Seco Cemetery.
Manuel will be remembered for his laughter, his faith, his love of family, and the care he gave to the people, places, and animals around him. His life was one of devotion and heart, and his memory will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
