Magdalena "Lena" Sikes

Magdalena "Lena" Sikes, born on July 2, 1959, in Espanola, New Mexico, passed away on July 21, 2025. She dedicated her career to working for the State of New Mexico in Child Support Enforcement, where she was known for her kindness and sense of humor. Lena was a well-rounded individual who had a serious side as well.

She pursued her education in Data Processing at the Technical Vocational Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Lena had many interests, including shopping, puzzles, and doodle art, which brought her joy throughout her life.

Lena is survived by her brother Arthur Chavez, sister Loretta Evans, and several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her father Arthur Chavez, mother Magdalena Chavez, and brother Dennis Chavez.

A Mass in her honor will be held on August 6, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, located at 126 S McCurdy Rd, Santa Cruz, NM 87567. Following the Mass, Lena will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery on El Llano Road in Santa Cruz, NM at 1:00 PM.
