Louie Martinez

Louie J. Martinez was born on August 12th, 1941, in Los Brazos, New Mexico, to Jose Ramon Martinez and Azucena Clara Martinez. Jose Ramon Martinez passed away in 1946 when Louie was 5. When he was 11, his mother, Azucena, married Lenore Vigil. The family moved to Monticello, Utah in 1956.

Louie married Efigenia (Virginia) Martinez in 1964. They moved to Santa Fe, NM in 1985.

Louie worked for Cerrillos Body Shop, the Corrections Department, American Eagle Security, and Wal-Mart retiring from there after 29 years of service.

Louie loved old cars, his favorite was a 1957 Chevrolet. He also loved doing security, especially for the Toys for Tots Bike Run. He loved to travel, going on cruises to Alaska and Hawaii with his brothers, Al and Robert. He enjoyed his time with his grandson, Lance, going to target practice. He traveled to Europe with his children Louise and Raymond, his grandson Lance Martinez, and Bertha Catano visiting various religious sites in Spain, Portugal, France, Jordan, Isreal, and Italy. The highlights of his travels were tracing the steps of Jesus renewing his baptism and seeing Pope Francis.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree, and a member of Santa Maria de la Paz.

On August 11th, 2025, Louie passed away at his home after battling cancer.

Louie is preceded in death by his wife, Efigenia (Virginia), sons Darrell and Jeffery Martinez; daughters, Darcey Martinez, and Lisa Torres; grandson Jeffrey Martinez, Jr.; father Jose Ramon Martinez; mother Azucena Vigil; step-father Lenore Vigil; brother Alfirio (Sally) Martinez; sisters Barbara (Augustine) Palerme, Josie (Mike) Torres; and sister-in-law Marie Martinez Louie is survived by his daughter, Louise E Martinez; son, Raymond Martinez (Bertha Catano); grandchildren Lance, Albert (Jennifer Telles), Olympia, Lori, Melicendro, Chris, Audrey, and Savannah Martinez; Brittani (Vince) Vigil; James and Brandon Hurtado; Bernadette Baca. 31 Great grandchildren and 8 Great- great grandchildren.
