Lorraine Minnie Chavez, 92 of Albuquerque, New Mexico, went peacefully to her Eternal Home on June 17, 2025. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Lorraine was born on May 4, 1933, in Dixon, New Mexico where her parents Bernabe and Elena Griego welcomed her to this world. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents Bernabe and Elena Griego (affectionately known as "Mommy"), her husband Salomon Sanchez, Sr., and her 6 siblings, Juan Griego and wife Cipricia, Manuel Griego and wife Eleanor, a very Special Sister Alice Griego and husband Eliseo, Celestino Griego and wife Margaret, Ernesto and wife Lugardita, and Samuel Griego and wife Lorraine.
Lorraine loved life and made so many friends through the years. At the age of 16, she moved to Albuquerque to start a life of her own, where she met the love of her life Salomon Sanchez, Sr. They married in year of 1953, and had a handsome baby boy, Pastor Salomon Sanchez Jr. He was their only child that they both cherished.
Lorriane would come to see her mother Elena as often as she could. She was very grateful for "Mommy" to help raise her son Pastor Salomon Sanchez as her own while Lorriane worked in St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Pastor Salomon Sanchez Jr. was very blessed to be loved by two loving individuals that he called "Mommy and Mom".
Lorraine was a Spiritual individual who would read her Bible every morning at 6:00 am. She was a member of the Apostolic Praise Temple located in Dixon. She was a devoted Christian; she loved her faith and would often take the time to tell others about Jesus Christ. It was an honor for Lorriane to be Baptized in the Name of Jesus in 1988 by her only son. She also had a love for Gospel Music and Preachings…some of her favorite singers and Preachers were Pastor Salomon her son, her Grandson Pastor Salomon Sanchez, III, and The Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart.
My special time was spending my Summer Vacations with My Grandma Minnie in Albuquerque. My brother and I would stay a month each with her, and she would take us to Uncle Cliffs every time. My grandma would always spoil us every time we would visit her. She would buy us everything we wanted from Walmart. I remember going to Sunday Services at the 1st Apostolic Church on Broadway with her, and right after we would go to McDonalds and then go for an ice cream at Dairy Queen. I will truly miss my Grandma Minnie for the rest of my life, and I cherish every precious memory I had of her.
Those who knew Lorraine will remember her for her infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, her deep-rooted faith in Jesus Christ, and her unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered. She had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.
Lorraine is survived and missed by her one and only son Pastor Salomon and his wife Velma Sanchez, grandchildren: Pastor Salomon III and wife Brenda Sanchez and Elena Sanchez Gurule, great-grandchildren, Matthew Manuel Gurule II, Salomon Sanchez IV, Josiah Sanchez, Jayleen Sanchez, Israel Sanchez, Isaac Sanchez, and Baby Jeanelle Sanchez.
