Loretta DeHerrera, 72, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on April 24, 2015 surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Manuelita Chavez, parents in-law, Paul and Beatrice Mares, great-granddaughter, Justice Esperanza Cantu, son in-law, Blas E. Duran, nephew, George Paul Salazar, who she loved as her own son, and niece, Maria Cristina Valdez, brother in-laws, Richard Valdez and Clarence Mares. She is survived by her children, Antonia Mares (Gilbert), John-Paul Mares (Dominica), Francisca Chavez, grandchildren, Estrella (Hector), Antonio (Breanna) James, Andrea (Edward), Andrew, Krista, Lauren (Aaron), Amanda, great-grandchildren, Miguel IV, Angeleah, Hailey, Baby Antonio, Brandon, Misty Xander, Soibon, Angelica, Sierra Nevaeh, Alyanna, Shawn, Devin, Juan, Alexi, Baby Fant, Isaac, Presleigh, great grandchild, Mia Angelique, sisters and brothers, Cecelia Valdez, Sarah Salazar (Orlando), Sylvia Martinez (Paul), Lupe Anaya (Mike), Cruz Chavez (Elma), Lucaria Chavez, Christobal Chavez (Mary Lou), Carmella Chavez Villafranca, Bettina Pacheco (Manuel), father of her children, John Mares (Stephanie), sister and brother in-laws, Joanne Castillo (Sef), Deliah Ortega, Frances Parraz (Tommy), Bonnie Mares, God son, Ricardo Valdez and other relatives and friends. Rosary was recited on April 30, 2015. Funeral mass was held on May 1, 2015. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church.
