Loretta May Vigil

Loretta M. Vigil, age 84

passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on September 4, 2026, and went to be with our Lord and Savior.

Loretta’s life was defined by devotion to her family, quiet strength, and a deep appreciation for the world around her. She was proud to have served in the Armed Forces, reflecting her courage and commitment. She also cherished the life she built at home as a wife and mother while contributing to the family business.

Loretta will be remembered as loving, kind-hearted, and always there when needed. Her gentle spirit and dependable presence brought comfort and reassurance to those she loved. She found joy outdoors, especially in gardening, painting, photography, music, and caring for farm animals. The beauty and wide-open spirit of the New Mexico desert held a special place in her heart.

Among Loretta’s proudest accomplishments were her 64-year marriage to Carlos and the family they built together. Her children and grandchildren were a lasting source of joy and pride. Family was at the heart of her life, and her legacy of care, faith, and devotion will live on through them.

Loretta is survived by her loving husband; her children; her grandchildren; her brothers; and her nieces and nephews. She held each of them close to her heart, and the love she gave so freely will remain with them always.

A Rosary and Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on October 5, 2026, at St. Anne Parish, 511 Alicia Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501.

Loretta will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her faith, strength, and the warmth she shared with so many.
