Lillian Baumbach was born on July 19, 1920 in Chicago to Jewish immigrants Luis Lieberman from Lithuania and Goldie Konblett from the Soviet Union, and died peacefully on May 20, 2026 at home in Santa Fe New Mexico surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her two children, daughter Joan Baumbach and husband George Marsden, and son James Baumbach and wife Dioly Piedrahita along with their two children Thomas Baumbach and Joseph Baumbach. She was married to Thomas Joseph Baumbach for over 50 years and outlived him by almost 25 years. She started working as a teenager and continued working until she was into her late 90s. Her many jobs included domestic worker, executive secretary, elementary school teacher, bilingual education coordinator, director of a medical manufacturing company, literacy and citizenship volunteer, wife, mother and dedicated grandmother. She enjoyed exercising, hiking reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest blessing was her two grandkids who she lived with since they were born. At her 90th birthday party she expressed to her guests that she wished for ten more years of life to enjoy her grandkids. God blessed her with fifteen more years which she enjoyed to the fullest. We miss her and love her and she will forever be in our hearts.
